As freelance expedition leader I have traveled the world exploring the wild and remote places people only dream of.
I have lead expeditions to The Falkland Islands South America, The Amazon Jungle, The Galapagos Islands, Morocco Africa, India the Himalayas and the Andes. I have climbed in the Swiss French and Italian Alps. Climbed on Mont Blanc and visited the summit of Kilimanjaro. Sailed across the bay of Biscay in a 32ft yacht and visited most of the seven wonders of the ancient world. visited Antartica Petra, Cappadocia, Machu Picchu and the aztec ruins of Mexico
I have always had a passion for photography even since my school days when I played around in the school dark room. I remember processing my own film then the challenge of the baths of developer and fixer fluid.
I lost touch for a bit while I had a successful army carer with the Royal Engineers but a visit to the Falkland Islands and an opportunity to head to the Antarctic on HMS Endurance was too good a chance to miss. I borrowed an old Nikon DSLR and off I went the scenery and wildlife was amazing. I was back in the dark room again this time with colour the images are all gone now as I didn't quite get the mixtures right.
On leaving the army I flung myself into the adventure tourism industry gaining qualifications in mountain guiding amongst others. I am lucky enough to have a job that takes me all over the world and my beloved Scotland.
The old film cameras are gone and I now shoot with a a Olympus OMD EM1 macro four thirds system. I find the size and weight perfect for traveling and the range of lenses is getting bigger and bigger every day. I am very much a shoot from the hip type of Photographer I don't have the patience to sit for hours for the prefect light. I am often with clients while I travel and most of the pictures you find on my site are taken while being in the right place at the right time.
Enjoy the site and if you ever need a guide to show you the best places to be for the shot you know were I am.
